Be Centered – Day Five
Hey hey! How'd the reframing exercise from yesterday go?
There are so many different ways to work on deprogramming and reprogramming, so if the worksheet wasn’t your thing – no worries! I’ve got you with a new tool today! Welcome to Day 5, Journaling!

The journal is a tool that is growing in popularity again. I feel like it was all the rage as a middle schooler back in the late ’90s and early ’00s. I had a couple of those fuzzy journals. Loved them! lol. And now it is like everyone is talking about their journal again!
Except, things are a little different. Remember the “Dear Diary, …” format? Well, we aren’t going to be using it with reframing. (I mean, unless you really want to start that way. I won’t judge.”)
We’ll go over how we are journaling to reframe in a moment.
The journal is a great tool though! And I want to really highlight this.
When we write, we are engaging the language and picture centers of our brains. Or maybe you dictate – you are engaging the language center still! We are also getting the thoughts, feelings, and beliefs outside of ourselves. This allows us to de-identify with them and makes it a little easier to dig in. Journals are sort of like sounding boards in this way too. And they can be a non-judgement space for working through things.
So yeay journaling! lol.
There are many ways to use this tool. But I’m giving you some Q’s to respond to.
Your Journaling Homework:
First, take your thought/belief/program from yesterday’s homework. Write it / type it / dictate it into your journal.
Then, answer these questions:
- Where did this program come from? (Alternatively: Where did I pick it up? Who taught it to me?)
- How does this show up in my life?
- How else does this programming show up in my life?
- What is more true? How can I deprogram / reprogram this? (This is where you will be getting to the other part of your homework from yesterday.)
From here, I like to repeat the new belief/thought in various different ways. You can do this if you want to, but you don’t have to. From here, like yesterday, it is just about repeating the new belief/thought – eventually the old program will begin to fade away.
Because old programming can be quite insidious and deeply rooted, we are going to go over another tool for rooting them out and allowing you to find your power in the storm tomorrow! So make sure to do your journaling and be prepared for Day 6!
